Celebrate VE Day and Discover Local History at the Valiant Soldier Heritage Centre

Join the Valiant Soldier Heritage Centre for a special VE Day celebration, explore an intriguing exhibition about Buckfastleigh 100 years ago, and enjoy various activities throughout the season. They also seek volunteers and support through the Teignbridge lottery and donations.

In honour of the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, the Valiant Soldier Heritage Centre is throwing open the doors of its historic bar on Saturday 10th May, from 6-10pm. Immerse yourself in the 1940s, with popular cocktails from the era, including our unique Vera Lynn cocktail. Of course, traditional beer and cider will also be on offer, along with a little music to keep you entertained.

This Year's Exhibition: This season, we're thrilled to be part of 'A Festival on Devon in the 1920s'. Our dedicated Archive team has compiled an interesting exhibition showcasing life in Buckfastleigh a century ago. The exhibition, along with various events, will be running throughout the season at different locations.

Opening Times: We're open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am to 3.30pm (last entry at 3pm). Plus, we'll be open on two Bank Holidays in May - Monday 5th and Monday 26th. Pop into our newly refurbished Visitor Centre for last-minute gifts, local maps, pre-read books, and more. We even have a fun challenge for the children - let's see how many little woolly sheep they can find hidden around the museum! Residents of the TQ11 area can enjoy free entry.

Volunteer Opportunities: If you can spare a few hours, we'd love to have you on our team. We need help with greeting visitors, staffing the reception desk, and providing admin and IT support. To learn more, drop in or give us a call on 01364 644522.

Don't miss our popular Coffee Mornings every Wednesday from 10am-12pm in the Visitor Centre. Run by the Methodist group, everyone is welcome to pop in for a cuppa.
